Video Podcast - The Story of Asteroids: The Movie

Sure, Universal has a big-budget Asteroids movie in the works.  But Kid Stuff records told the story first... and second.  Now we're bringing it to the small screen.

The Gaming After 40 video podcast is available free on iTunes, YouTube, and blip.tv -- online and on Roku set-top boxes!

  1. Wow! That was an AMAZING job you did with that one. Did you take the images from the book? I wonder if that would have been a good one to submit to CRACK'D online? I have no idea how they work, but this was very polished and well done. I plan to highlight some of your better videos on our site soon. This will be one of them.

  2. Thanks for the kind words. Most of the artwork is indeed taken directly from the book, with some cleanup and gag modifications. I've done some writing and artwork for Cracked and National Lampoon in years past, actually; just wanted to shift gears and do a personal project with this blog.

  3. The most incredible thing about this is the amount of time and money someone took to make this book and record.

  4. I imagine it was a straightforward business decision at the time -- video games were still newfangled, and enough copies would sell to make a profit. It's essentially a radio play - though it IS surprising that the book-and-record is not an edited version of the full-length album, but a completely different story. Kid Stuff hired a composer/singer, a writer, a couple of actors for a week or two, paid for studio time. They didn't even spend any money on sound effects!
