I don't recall ever seeing this particular TV ad for Activision's Pitfall! back in the day. It's an example of an old 1970's advertising trope that could be used for just about any product that was perceived to be in great demand. But here it was fairly accurate, judging from the number of Pitfall! cartridges still floating around these days:
