I learned last night that Bob Liddil, aka "Captain 80" to many TRS-80 and text adventure enthusiasts of the early 1980s, passed away suddenly on Monday. He founded The Programmers' Guild, an early computer game publisher, and gave graciously of his time and talents to many, many people, myself included. I only got to know him myself a few months ago -- he was a warm and funny man, self-deprecating when it came to his own contributions to the fledgling industry, with fulsome praise for the many talented people he worked with.
Bob will be missed. My deepest sympathies go out to his family, and the many who called him a friend.

Rest in Peace, Bob. You were always a friend to me.
ReplyDeleteOh wow. I just pulled a book off my shelf from the old ConTrary days "Absolute Beginner's Guide to Fantasy Role Playing Gaming" and thought I'd look up his name. RIP
