Mattel Electronics had a very successful run with its pioneering hand-held LED sports games, so it was only natural that the company tried to extend the concept into other markets during the late 1970s into the early 80s.
Maybe it was just the timing that made this seem like a good idea to Mattel Electronics executives -- it has the seventies written all over it:
Just like storefront "psychics" and "mediums" (should that be "media"?), Mattel is careful to note that the Horoscope Computer is for Astrological entertainment purposes only. And that while the unit is happy to rate your potential lovers as CLOUD 9 or NO WAY, it remains important to remember that You make the final decision.
This scan is from an old Mattel brochure; I've never seen one of these in the wild.
Which probably means that many people did indeed make the final decision: "Don't buy this."
