Almost every platform got an official release of Frogger in the early 1980's. Some even got two.
I also want to give a little shout-out to all the folks watching on Roku set-top boxes -- the show comes out a little bit early there and seems to gather quite a few viewings before I ever post it on the blog.

The one big exception to that rule was the Atari 400/800. Due to the inexplicable official frogger there we came out with an unofficial forgger look alike called Preppy. It went on to win game of the year status at the annual awards that year!
ReplyDeleteI have to cover Preppie! (and its lawn-mowing sequel) sometime, it was an excellent Frogger clone with a sense of humor. I still remember Scott Ross' cover art, he did a lot of fun game artwork in the 80's.
ReplyDeleteLoved Preppie! Actually, most Adventure International games caused my heart to stir a bit when I saw them in ads in magazines, and played them on my Atari 800.
ReplyDeleteScott, any plans to adapt those games to modern platforms?
Sorry no plans Steve. You can still find emulators and rips for many of them though.
