But the island with the volcano sounds like "Savage Island" by Scott Adams or "Volcano Island" from Softside.

Savage Island review:
http://gamingafter40.blogspot.com/2009/08/great-scott-project-adventure-10.html

Volcano Island review:
http://gamingafter40.blogspot.co.uk/2014/12/adventure-of-week-volcano-island-1983.html

Hope those help. It also mentions in the description that to do things you have to give your "puppet" (your game's parser)
commands.

You start off on a beach. There is a crater at some point. Maybe a tree you climb and a vine. Maybe a hut ? It is all fuzzy now. I never got too far in it.

100 points if you track it down. LOL.

One other game I would like to try again was one where I think had minimalist graphics putting the player in maze in first person view. It had a parser. One of the clues in the maze was the song lyric "for every season turn, turn turn". I recall finding a calculator in the maze and monster. That's all. I don't know what platform it was on but it too may have been on an Apple ][. It was around 1984 when I saw that.Loofadawgnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7274560874062585311.post-23408000108165511942012-06-29T20:42:57.070-07:002012-06-29T20:42:57.070-07:00Great to hear from you, Mr. Johnstone! One of the odd and wonderful things about computer software is the way it allows a mind in 2012 to interact with another mind circa 1983.StillGaminghttps://www.blogger.com/profile/18366215127642090500noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7274560874062585311.post-68952298402551186952012-06-29T03:03:59.895-07:002012-06-29T03:03:59.895-07:00Heh heh. Even if you do pull our little game to pieces ;-) I have the original copy of the 80 Micro issue that it's in, so will check which of the errors were in the original listing.

This was our first real computer program, written by us when we were 14 or 15 years old at school in Perth, Western Australia. Mike was a school mate visiting for a couple of years from California.

I am now a neuroscience researcher - I now list this as my first publication!

Thanks for the memories.
TomTom Johnstonehttp://www.beclab.org.uknoreply@blogger.com
